H+B IN ROSSENDALE

In 1994 Horse + Bamboo Theatre moved to a new building in Waterfoot, which is a small mill-town in the heart of Rossendale.

Horse + Bamboo has restored the building, and we are now developing it as 'THE BOO ' - a theatre space for a wide range of arts activities including events for the local community.

The BOO - EVENTS

The building originally served as the towns Liberal Club, and has since been used as a ballroom, a roller-skating rink, a cinema, and a slipper store.

THE ROSSENDALE VALLEY

Horse + Bamboo Theatre has been based, since 1978, in the Rossendale Valley, Lancashire, UK. This is an upland area, a series of valleys situated in a spur of the main Pennine chain. It is an area which has suffered, for half a century or more, from the decline in the cotton industry.

Recent efforts have been made to halt the effects of this decline. This has been accompanied by a re-awakened awareness of the beauty of the local landscape and the beginnings of tourism often based around signposted walks, a sculpture trail, museums and a steam railway.
