Horse + Bamboo Theatre presents DEEP TIME CABARET, an original performance devised and directed by Bob Frith.

The show is, as suggested, in the form of a cabaret, linking short entertaining scenes and vignettes with songs and puppetry. It mixes humour and dream-like imagery to create a sense of the vast time-scales involved in the creation of the landscape.

DEEP TIME CABARET is an irreverent and complex take on some of the issues that confront humankind in the 21st century - the fact that the earth's resources, that for so long we have taken for granted, are running out; and that in the course of grasping for the jewels that are have been hidden within the planet, perhaps we have inadvertently planted the seeds of our own demise. The show utilises myth and absurdism to provoke us to consider these issues....

The source for DEEP TIME CABARET is the short film 'Hineingrabe' by the artist Tracey Holland, which looks at the Rossendale hills and quarries and their association with myth and folk-lore, and was created for the exhibition of artist’s work held at the Boo last year, inspired by the landscape and geological heritage of the Rossendale landscape.
