It’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to Alithea Wardle and Emma Porter this week. Both have made a fantastic contribution to Horse + Bamboo for more than two years now and have been great team members. We will miss them hugely: Emma always there in the office keeping on top of everything that keeps us functioning, Ali for her marketing campaigns and her work on our website, on Facebook, twitter, and the podcasts. Good luck to them both. We will miss them. |

NEW APPOINTMENTS |

We're delighted to announce that Peter Caruana and John Belfield will be joining us in February. Peter will be our full-time Operations Manager and John will be our part-time Accountant. Both live locally and have come through a very hard recruitment process - we have spent several days interviewing lots of people keen to work with us. Peter will be focusing on the Boo and its creative vision, including keeping an eye on our gutters, our doors, and our floors as well as all the issues around programming in a multi-puropse building. John's arrival means that Helen can thankfully pass on to him VAT returns, management accounts, and the minutae of budgeting. |

STAR MATTER AVAILABLE TO BUY ON FROM H+B ONLINE SHOP! |
![]() |
Star Matter is a fascinating book which offers ideas for developing an awareness and appreciation of where we’ve come from and where we’re going to. It discusses some of the bigger questions and explains concepts such as Deep Time, the planets, the stars and the origin of matter that even we humans are composed of. Star Matter contains interesting facts and ideas, with pointers and suggestions for those wishing to apply these concepts to educating young people. The book relates to the ideas which inspired H+B’s latest touring production DEEP TIME CABARET. Click here to go to H+B's online store. |
STORM IN A TEACUP BACK ON THE ROAD AGAIN IN 2010 |
![]() |
Horse + Bamboo have been given the opportunity to re-work an old show with a residency at Wigan Arts Advisory Support Service Performing Arts Centre. Storm in a Teacup was originally designed as a 15 minute show that fitted in our pPod. We always felt it had so much more than 15 minutes to it and even when it was later revised as a 25 minute piece it still felt it should have more. We will now develop it even further to a full piece of 45 minutes for children 4 and upwards which will run for two weeks and been available to primary schools in the Wigan area. It will also give us another opportunity to work with the wonderful Chris Davies on the music. His last project with Horse + Bamboo was the hugely successful In the Shadow of Trees. Storm in a Teacup will also be available for other bookings in March 2010 and beyond and can be accompanied by mask or puppetry workshops. |
