BIG IMAGINATIONS JAZZ CLUB – Arun Ghosh Big Imaginations Festival
Award wining clarinettist Arun Ghosh brings his exciting energy and original music to the Boo as part of the Big Imaginations Festival.
Arun’s musical vocabulary and vision reflects his rich geographical heritage. His music uses the spirit and language of jazz, with the sounds and styles of hip-hop, Indian classical and folk, western classical, rock, pop and avant-garde.

TREMBLING BELLS PLUS DAN HAYWOOD – Psych Folk
A psych folk phenomenon, the Glasgow based quintet have released five albums since 2008, all to unanimous critical acclaim, earning praise from artists as diverse as Paul Weller, Stewart Lee and Joe Boyd. They have also been the backing band of choice for some of the most influential and innovative musicians of the last 50 years, including Incredible String Band, Kaleidoscope and Bonnie “Prince” Billy.

TALES OF BIRBAL – Mashi Theatre Big Imaginations Festival
Travelling story-tellers Mashi and Bhanji earn their keep by recreating enchanting tales of the great Moghul King Akbar and his wise companion, Birbal. How can a man survive a night in a freezing lake? How many crows are there in a kingdom? Only Birbal knows! Using humour, puppetry, music and the occasional fake beard, Mashi and Bhanji bring to life these famous tales. Part of the Big Imaginations Festival.

SHAKESPEARE VERSUS MOLIERE – Indigo Moon Theatre
if Shakespeare and Moliere were our contemporaries, what would they write about? A wave of migrants has landed on French and English shores, all hoping for a better life. Grandeur, decadence, social upheaval and love affairs are brought to life by a puppeteer from each country, each playing the role of a border guard. A highly visual, bilingual production, bringing classic texts into a very contemporary context.

JUNGLE BOOK – JUNIOR PUPPET PERFORMERS – Horse + Bamboo
Four fun-filled, jungle-themed workshops. This autumn we’re inviting young people to embark upon a new voyage of discovery with us. We’ll be working towards two innovative and interactive ‘walk-about’ shows to welcome our audience as they arrive for our main house theatre show, Jungle Book by Indigo Moon Theatre on Saturday 2nd December.

MAGIC LANDSCAPES – Horse + Bamboo
Created by Horse + Bamboo in partnership with Early Years practitioner Charlotte Arculus, along with four local emerging artists as part of their residency. The show will blend singing, music, light, texture, colour and shadow to create a magical experience for very young children and their families. *Please book your tickets in advance, and just pay what you think after the show.

SARAH YASEEN – Singer Songwriter
A hit at our Puppet Festival, Sarah’s raw acapella/cantata singing takes the audience into her world of emotions and feelings of love, faith and personal struggle. Her soulful voice is accompanied by guitar or darabouka. She’s an international performer, inspired by Qawaali music and Ghazals by musicians such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ustad Mehdi Hassan and Abida Parveen.

STOLEN – The Devils Violin
Devil’s Violin take you on an epic journey, through a dream-like land where you will encounter a king turned to stone, an old woman living in the claw of a giant cockerel and a glass man filled with wasps. This is a tale of lost loves, bravery, and above all else, hope. Brimming with dreamlike images, it will haunt you long after the performance ends.
