Alison and Bob – Joint Artistic Directors
BOB FRITH: Bob founded Horse + Bamboo in 1978. Starting out as a visual artist, his performance and theatre work grew from his painting and printmaking. After working for two years with Welfare State International he formed Horse + Bamboo with a few of his students, other artists from Welfare State, and a group of friends from Matrogoth Theatre in Leiden, Holland. Bob remains Joint Artistic Director with Alison Duddle.

ALISON DUDDLE: Alison came to Horse + Bamboo in 1997 with a powerful recommendation from In The Heart of The Beast Mask and Puppet Theatre of Minneapolis, where she had worked for several years before moving back to England. Now she’s a cornerstone of the company, overseeing The Boo programme, the Puppet Festival, and working with Bob as Joint Artistic Director.

Esther
ESTHER FERRY-KENNINGTON: Esther joined H+B in 2007 from Oxfam. She is an ex-croupier, a keen singer and a Morris dancer, and probably much more besides. She is often found out and about selling and promoting work to the outside world with a tape measure in her handbag. She works as Producer, which sounds simpler than it is.

Liz
LIZ MUTCH: Is the Family Audience Development and Marketing Manager, who juggles a number of activities in her job, all with the aim of welcoming families from across Rossendale and beyond to experience our family programme. Liz works part time and has two young children so she is out and about in the community chatting about what we do almost every day! On show days Liz works Front of House to welcome families to our theatre, and she maintains our Facebook and Twitter accounts for the Boo and writes our regular newsletter. It is a very sociable role so it’s a good job she likes talking!

Helen
HELEN HUGHES: Helen is our Administrator and so keeps everything in order. She works part-time, but is the person (when she’s in) who will normally pick up the phone when you ring. Helen has an interesting work life; also working at the local Tesco store - and appearing with Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law in ‘Sherlock Holmes’.
