In this classic mini-visual mask and puppet theatre piece from Horse + Bamboo, one of Europe’s leading visual theatre companies, a lonely lighthouse keeper uses his quirky notion of the charms of tea time in a vain attempt to win the friendship of a rare visitor to his isolated home.   Storm in a Teacup has proved a huge winner at festivals, events and schools throughout the UK and Ireland.  It is a captivating and delightful show for the young and young at heart.

So simple, so funny, so clever.  A pair of hands, eyes made of wood and music are the ingredients of this brilliant variety show for all the family from Dutch theatre company, Lejo.   A crazy pianist, a lazy panpipe player,a cool DJ and a children's choir and conductor are a few of the surprise characters you will meet.  Handiwork is presented in association with Spot On Rural Touring and The Skipton Puppet Festival.

'In The Shadow of Trees' - Horse + Bamboo Theatre

Set in mysterious woodland, In The Shadow Of Trees is the compelling story of a young girl, abandoned at birth, who grows up nurtured by nature alone.   Using masks, puppets and beautiful live music, this is a delightful family show with message and magic in equal parts.  In The Shadow Of Trees won the best new play award at the 2006 Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards and was originally produced in association with The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester.

A well-meaning but unreliable clown attempts to explain the Book of Genesis. Were Adam and Eve set up to fail? Did Abraham truly intend to sacrifice his son? Why did Lot's wife really turn into a pillar of salt? Through household objects, puppets, physical theatre and live music, Thingumajig Theatre create a world where profane objects are sacred and the sacred is hilarious.  

Awarded a 2006 Citation of Excellence by UNIMA-USA.

In Hayo Miyazaki’s magical film a 13 year old girl meets the world head on as she spends her first year soloing as an apprentice witch.   Kiki (Kirsten Dunst) is still a little green and plenty headstrong, but also resourceful, imaginative and determined.  This charming animated fantasy is a wholesome, life-affirming picture that doesn’t speak down to kids or up to adults.

This is a great opportunity to look behind the scenes of one of the UK’s leading visual theatre companies and also catch a sneak preview of the masks and puppets that will be used in Horse + Bamboo’s 30th anniversary production Veil . As well as taking part in guided tours of the Horse + Bamboo building, visitors will also be able to watch mask and puppet makers at work and view a selection of masks and puppets from the Company’s extensive collection.

'Stories from the Lakota and Other Tribes' - Storytelling by Robert Greygrass

Robert Greygrass is a traditional Native American storyteller. Robert will  take us on an exciting adventure through the telling of traditional Native American stories from his Lakota and Cherokee roots , presented in an engaging, contemporary way.  Includes powwow signing and music.  Fun and entertaining for the whole family.
